5 things you need to know before taking your engagement photos.
Planning a wedding is hard and knowing exactly what to wear and what to expect is hard. I am here to prepare you and lessen your stress on part of the wedding planning. I have more tips and tricks as well in other blog posts you can find under wedding tips. For now engagements are one of the first things that brides start in their wedding experience. I have prepared 5 tips to help be prepared for your photo session.
Finding some colors are hard to match so I recommend using neutrals if there is no other option. Some of my favorite colors is white, cream, tan, grey, navy, olive green, light pink or light blue.
2. Bring at least 2 outfits.
Bringing at least two gives you options. If you decide you don’t like the way one looks in photos you will always have another options. I recommend at least one more casual outfit. Usually jeans for the girl and a button up shirt with either jeans or tan pants. And a dressier option such as a dress for the bride and a button up shirt and tie for the groom. Some of my favorite places for the bride to shop is anthropologie, madewell, nordstrom, rachel parcell, and zara. For the groom some of my favorites is topman, the black tux, abercrombie and fitch, and nordstrom.
3. Plan for the weather and location
This applies to your outfits what time you leave and maybe some props you would like to bring. If you are planning on shooting in the canyon in the middle of winter maybe bring a blanket if you are wanting some sitting down photos or just cute photos with the blanket around you.
4. Get your ring cleaned.
Believe it or not this is the most overlooked thing. Even though it may still be new dirt tends to collect in those rings. Most jewelers offer a free cleaning. Get it cleaned before every session. Photographers photograph your ring because it is such a special part of the story.
5. Trust your photographer
We know what we are doing. We will tell you exactly what to do and will make photos seem seamless. I tell my clients to move their chin up or down and I move hair if its in the way. No worries for feeling awkward. That is our job is to help you stress less about the posing part.
At the end of your engagements go get dinner. I know it is hard with covid and everything but you got all dressed up you deserve a date night to enjoy the process. And if you have a hard groom who absolutely hates photos you can bribe him with dinner after haha.
